The Sandeel has been on the market for several years and was Savage Gear’s first 100% saltwater specific lure. Originally designed mainly for vertical fishing, it has proven to be deadly on large gamefish as both a casting lure and on the troll, from shore and by boat. Anglers who work the deep waters of places like the Cape Cod Canal wouldn’t be caught without several of the larger Sandeel jigs in their tackle bag, and now there is an even larger version—geared towards both deep-water casting from shore and by boat—the Heavy Sandeel. While the original version is available in five different weights from 4/5 to 5-1/3 ounces, the new Heavy Sandeel is available in only two weights for now, 6.3 and 9.3 ounces. The Heavy features a built-in steel rattle in addition to the same extra-heavy duty hooks and super-durable soft plastic body featured on the original Sandeel to create an even more appealing lure for big game species.

While the name might be deceiving, the Sandeel works when a wide variety of forage species are on the menu, not just sand eels, and the original Sandeel is available in a plethora of colors to match the hatch in your waters including chartreuse mackerel, cosmic wacky mackerel, sandeel dirty silver, ghost herring, green back, green glow, black, pink/white, real pearl, lemon back, blue/silver, sandeel brown and more. The new Heavy version is available in blue/silver UV, chartreuse glow, pink glow and sandeel UV.
