New York’s black sea bass season kicked off on June 23, launching the first half of the split season with a minimum size limit of 16.5 inches and a daily bag limit of 3 fish per angler through August 31. Beginning September 1, the daily limit increases to 6 fish, running through the close of the season on December 31. With strong reports already coming in from wrecks and reefs off Long Island’s South Shore and East End, anglers can expect solid action through the summer and fall.
