Capt. Rob Semkewyc of the Sea Hunter is hanging up the oilskins in exchange for a pair of golf spikes.  The boat itself has been sold and will be berthed in a new slip in Montauk, NY, while Capt. Rob himself is retiring to North Carolina where he plans on playing more golf.

A popular and successful captain in the Sandy Hook and Raritan Bay region, Capt. Rob has been fishing those waters since the age of 7; in his teens he had begun working weekends on his father’s boat the Bob Jac, though he also worked summer weekdays on other vessels in the Atlantic Highlands party boat fleet while also earning his Captains License at the age of 13.

In 1993, Rob’s father was ready to purchase a new party boat, and he offered him the opportunity to be his partner. They named the new boat the Sea Hunter, and through Rob’s extensive knowledge of the area’s fishing grounds and his love of saltwater fishing the head boat Sea Hunter went on to earn a strong reputation amongst local anglers.

The Sea Hunter is a 75-foot solid fiberglass fishing boat that can accommodate up to 80 passengers. It is powered by two 1271 Detroit diesel engines.  For those looking to head east to fish the Sea Hunter stay tuned to seahunter.info for more info.  As for Capt. Rob, all of us at The Fisherman Magazine wish you a healthy, happy and well-deserved retirement!
