Sunday mornings are about to get salty as Saltwater Underground with Nick Honachefsky kicks off Discovery Channel’s block of fishing shows, Sunday mornings at 6:30 a.m. throughout the month of January.
“The upcoming 2025 season five of Saltwater Underground on Discovery is set to entertain, educate and inspire,” said host and executive producer Nick Honachefsky. The longtime field editor at The Fisherman Magazine added, “This year we hit some new species like bonito, travel to the Crystal Coast of North Carolina for redfishing and have Bassmaster Champion Mike ‘Ike’ Iaconelli out for stripers along with plenty more fishing action.”
Saltwater Underground with Nick Honachefsky is the only national fishing show based in the Northeast and showcases favorited local species like striped bass, bonito, tuna, blackfish, black sea bass and more. “I’m proud to partner up with Discovery Channel to open the doors to our fisheries,” said Honachefsky, adding “We strive to not only educate how to target the species, but the general vibe is of good times with animated guests in hopes to get your juices flowing, to inspire you to get out on the saltwater and experience the fun for yourself.”
The show also always ends with a culinary segment to cook the catch with celebrated chefs from all walks of life. “We’ve got chefs James Avery of Hell’s Kitchen, Bradley Rodriguez of Spring Lake Seafood and Josh DeChellis of Top Chef among others giving us the finest recipes,” said Honachefsky.
Saltwater Underground’s growing stable of sponsors include Yo-Zuri, IslandX Lures, Fisherman’s Supply, Crystal Coast Tourism, Grundens, Mustad and Grumpy’s Tackle.
