ST. CROIX LEGEND XTREME INSHORE SALTWATER RODS - The Fisherman

ST. CROIX LEGEND XTREME INSHORE SALTWATER RODS

Inshore saltwater fishing is more popular than ever before and for good reason. Many historically up-and-down northeast species like striped bass, fluke and bluefish are relatively healthy at the moment. Plus inshore trips usually translate to less travel time and more fishing time. And with the price of marine fuel, large outboards and ocean-going angling platforms these days…well, you get the picture.

The folks at St. Croix have seen the writing on the marina wall and have introduced a next-gen lineup of top-of-the-line coastal fishing rods that are at the top of their game and will put you at the top of yours. Simply put, the new quartet of high-performance LegendXtreme fishing rods are designed from the get-go with proprietary technologies, built on hi-modulus SC graphite blanks and finished off with an array of cutting edge fittings that make them look way-cool and perform beyond expectations.

The four newbies include a trio of 7-foot, 1-piece spinning rods that all share a fast taper, but differentiate themselves with a medium light (ML) power rating, medium (M) power and medium heavy (MH) designations. The ML flavor (XIS70MLF) is rated for 6-12 lb line and 1/8 – 1/2 oz lures; the M model (XIS70MF) will handle 8-17 lb line and 3/8 – 3/4 oz lures; the MH spinner (XIS70MHF) is designed for 10-20 lb line and 1/2 – 1-1/4 oz. lures. These sticks weight 4.4, 4.6 and 5.2-oz respectively, so they are strong but extremely lightweight and super-sensitive.

The baitcaster of the groups is the model XIC7070MHF and is the “heavyweight” of the group at 5.5-oz, rated for 10-20 lb line and lures from 1/2 – 1-1/4 oz. Some of the notable common features for all four LegendXtreme rods include Integrated Poly Curve (IPC) tooling technology; a Taper Enhancement Technology (TET) blank design that provides curved patterns for improved action with increased sensitivity; a super high-modulus SC graphite for maximum power and strength with reduced weight; plus an Xtreme-Skin handle that repels water, dirt and fish slime and cleans up easily. The Kigan Master Hand Zero Tangle guides with zirconia rings and titanium frames provide the ultimate protection against saltwater corrosion. The sloped, wide leg design of the guide frames prevents line tangles with mono, fluorocarbon and super braid lines. Fuji SK2 split reel seats offer the ultimate in light weight and sensitivity. Each LegendXtreme rod is topped off with two coats of durable Flex Coat slow-cure epoxy finish over the guide wraps and a corrosion-proof wind check and reel seat trim pieces. A protective rod sack is included with each stick for traveling and all are backed by a transferable 15-year warranty backed by St. Croix Superstar Service. MSRP for each of the LegendXtreme rods is $380.
