STORMR EXTREME OUTERWEAR - The Fisherman

STORMR EXTREME OUTERWEAR

Henderson Sport Group has recently introduced the STORMR outerwear, its revolutionary extreme weather clothing brand for the marine marketplace. Marine enthusiasts who demand the driest and most efficient outerwear to “defy the elements” will be able to purchase STORMR brand products at retailers nationwide this coming fall. Commercial, charter boat, recreational sport fishing, saltwater and freshwater enthusiasts will all find a complete line of STORMR products designed specifically for the most severe conditions that they face when out on the beach or in their boats.

Developed after three years of testing in the North Atlantic, the central element in the STORMR design is “Neoprene Core Technology” (NCT). The STORMR is an adaptation of the wetsuit for land, or for use topsides when on a boat. The STORMR is made to withstand the harshest of elements while providing comfort and maneuverability unlike most foul weather gear.

NCT delivers huge thermal benefits in a thin, soft, flexible, windproof and waterproof shell with is lined with a soft and ultra-plush wicking interior lining. This special combination locks out the wind, cold, rain or snow while trapping a barrier of warm air around your body. STORMR products are feature-rich and provide all the bells and whistles that boaters and fishermen will really appreciate, and there’s even an ultra-stylish STORMR designed specifically for the women in your life as well. The STORMR is lined with a soft, comfortable micro-fleece material which traps warm air between your body and the shell. All seams on STORMR Jackets and Bibs are glued, blind-stitched and then coated with a thermally bonded exterior tape, making all seams not just rainproof, but 100% waterproof. Same goes for the zippers on STORMR products, which are also waterproof to keep salt spray on the outside where it belongs and not seeping into your inner layers of clothing. This construction process, although significantly more complicated and expensive than construction methods employed by common rain wear, ensures that STORMR products remain waterproof and windproof even in high winds, driving rain and freezing precipitation, and that’s a very comforting thought.

STORMR’s Neoprene Core Technology offers a nice “bonus” benefit, since it is inherently buoyant. Although STORMR Jackets and Bibs are not USCG approved flotation devices, STORMR jackets will float without the added flotation panels commonly found in float-wear. This provides an added level of safety and warmth, since the Neoprene Core technology will function like a wetsuit in emergency full immersion situations. Combined, the STORMR Jacket and Bibs will provide nearly ten pounds of positive buoyancy. The hazards involved with marine activities are real and when the temperatures drop, one mistake can prove to be life-threatening. STORMR’s warmth, comfort, flexibility and safety features combine to provide a very unique product that expands the breadth of marine outerwear to a new level of capability.

STORMR was founded in 2011 with the launch of the first Typhoon Jacket. As mentioned earlier, the fall of 2012 will be the launch of a full line of STORMR Strykr products, which include an outerwear jacket, bib overalls, gloves, hats, socks, boots and more, all geared for the fishing and boating markets. STORMR’s parent company, Henderson Sport Group, has been a leader in neoprene wetsuit manufacturing for the past 45 years. Men’s jackets are available in a variety of sizes from S to 3XL. Women’s jackets are available from XS to 2XL.

The Typhoon Series Jacket is the father of all STORMRs. The Typhoon was the first jacket in the STORMR line, introduced in 2011. This jacket quickly gained a reputation as a serious, warm and comfortable jacket for all mariners. The Typhoon gained popularity among the northeast commercial fishing fleet and with recreational coastal striper chasers. The Typhoon will remain as the core of the STORMR line with all the important functions, boasting unmatched maneuverability, 3M reflective graphics and nearly five pounds of positive buoyancy. The Typhoon’s warmth, comfort and safety features give you the ability to stay out longer and perform better. The recently introduced Strykr series includes matched overall bibs and jackets and are an adaptation of the wetsuit for land and boats, utilizing Neoprene Core Technology.

Care of both the Typhoon and Strykr jackets are unlike normal outer wear, and STORMR recommends that you do not machine-wash these items, dry clean them or put them in a tumble dryer. It’s best to use only freshwater and a mild liquid detergent for cleaning. For highly soiled areas, a soft non-abrasive brush may be used. Hang dry in a shaded area. Essentially, care for these jackets is similar to that of a wetsuit.
