The Coastal Kayak Clash Begins May 1!

Kayak anglers stretch out those calves, starting this Wednesday, May 1, you could be beginning your journey to kayak fishing supremacy by joining The Fisherman Magazine’s Coastal Kayak Clash (CKC).

If you’re not familiar with the CKC, it’s a ‘kayak only’ catch-photo-release tournament that runs from May through November and covers a diverse list of eight target species. Those species are: weakfish, black sea bass, fluke, bluefish, blackfish, scup, hardtails and striped bass. It’s a game of inches with the top three longest fish caught in each category earning points to build a final score. To score points, anglers must submit photos of their fish lying next to a rigid ruler and showing the tournament tag (available for download May 1), the photos are then submitted via email and compiled for weekly scoreboard updates. The angler with the most points across all species at the end of the event (which ends November 30, 2024) will be crowned the winner.

The CKC is packed to the rails with awesome prizes, for starters, the winning angler will pedal home in an Old Town Sportsman PDL 120 tricked out with the ultimate YakAttack kayak fishing accessory bundle! The second place winner will be seeing things more clearly through his or her Humminbird Helix 7 CHIRP Mega SI GPS G4N fish finder. The angler landing in third place will earn a $500 cash prize! The eight lucky anglers that land the ‘largest of species’ for each category will win top end reels from Daiwa; Coastal TW200 Casting Reels for scup, sea bass, blackfish and fluke, and BGMQ4000’s for striped bass, weakfish, hardtails and bluefish. In addition to the reel, these winners will also net a prize pack of Yo-Zuri’s top lures: a 6-1/2-inch Yo-Zuri Mag Darter, a Yo-Zuri Mag Popper, a 5-inch Yo-Zuri 3D Inshore TopKnock Pencil, a 3-1/2-inch Yo-Zuri 3D Inshore Popper, a 4-3/4-inch Yo-Zuri 3D Inshore Popper, and a 5-1/4-inch Yo-Zuri Hydro Monster Shot, along with a 100-yard spool of 40-pound Yo-Zuri SuperFluoro and an XL Yo-Zuri Striped Bass performance shirt.

This event sees fierce competition from some top-notch anglers who battle it out to the bitter end. It’s a great way to test your skills against other hardcore yakkers and it’s also a ton of fun to compete and there are so many ways to win.
