The wait is nearly over for the surfcasters up and down the coast. This Saturday, April 11th, The Saltwater Edge will transform its grounds at 1376 West Main Road into the epicenter of the Northeast surfcasting scene. With the striped bass migration just over the horizon, this one-day event serves as the ultimate pre-season gathering for gear, education, and camaraderie.
The festivities kick off in the side lot at 9 a.m. with the highly anticipated Custom Plug Show. This open-air showcase features an elite lineup of the industry’s most respected builders, including Chris Voorhies, BigWater Pikes, Gremlin, Surf Asylum, Guppy, GooGoo Man, Franktown, Paul Moriarty, and 401 Plugs. Access to the plug tent and the opportunity to browse these handcrafted wooden lures is free to the public and runs until 1 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.
In addition to the custom tackle, attendees can consult with factory representatives from top-tier brands including Van Staal, Tsunami, Temple Fork, and Simms. The shop will be fully-stocked for all pre-season surfcasting needs, and local food trucks will be on-site to provide a variety of coastal cuisine throughout the day.
As the morning session winds down, the focus shifts to the Surfcasting Expo (tickets required) from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. This intensive afternoon session features panel discussions and hands-on demonstrations led by some of the most accomplished surfcasters in the game. Tickets for the afternoon Expo are $50 and include event access plus a raffle ticket.
Whether you are looking for that one-of-a-kind custom plug or seeking to refine your technical skills before the first pushes of bass arrive, this weekend’s expo is the place to be. For final schedule details or to secure one of the remaining Expo tickets, visit saltwateredge.com.
