If you’re looking to get into a little tournament perch fishing in New Jersey, you’ve got two consecutive weekends to give those “spineys” a run for some money.
On Saturday, April 23, the Landisville Gunning Club will host their 16th Annual White Perch Tournament with prizes offered for first ($1,000), second ($500) and third ($250) place fish, with a lunker pool based on entries.
Tournament action starts at 6 a.m. with the weigh-in to begin at 2 p.m. at the Landisville Gunning Club at the corner of 4th and Cape May Avenue in Estell Manor, NJ. Adult entry is $40 with children 10 and under just $15 when accompanied by a registered adult. For active military personnel and disabled veterans the cost for entry is just $20
The captains meeting will be held on April 22 at the club from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Landisville Gunning Club recommends participating anglers register online at landisvillegunningclub.com.
On Saturday, April 30, the Eagleswood Volunteer Fire Company will hold second annual E.V.F.C White Perch Tournament, also a “rain or shine” event. The captains meeting will be held on Friday, April 29 at the Eagleswood Fire House at 219 Railroad Avenue in West Creek, NJ starting at 6:30 p.m. Entry for a team of two is $40, and at least one team member must attend the captains meeting.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers for the heaviest weight of 10 or less fish weighed in between 1 and 3 p.m. at the Eagleswood Fire House. There’s also a $10 calcutta per team for the heaviest single white perch of the contest.
