Bob from Bob’s Bait and Tackle let me know small bluefish are still hanging around Demo and Sore Thumb, providing some light-tackle action. A few fluke are also being picked from Cedar Beach on small bucktails tipped with Gulp. The rocks around Sore Thumb are still producing triggerfish for anglers fishing clam and squid. Sharks remain a steady option along the open beaches as well, with chunk baits continuing to account for most of the action.

Bob Rose at Bob's Bait and Tackle in Amity Harbor reported the fluke is a mirror image of last week. There are still a ton of fish in the bay, with some larger ones in the ocean. The ocean is also producing sea bass, porgies, ling and blues to go along with the fluke. The larger fish are also seemingly better on the ocean reefs. On the docks, snappers, crabs and blowfish are all around. Bluefish action remained very good for anglers fishing the early a.m. and p.m., but they also still pop up throughout the bay during the day, depending on the bait and tide flow.

Bob from Bob’s Bait and Tackle let me know the snapper blues are continuing to get bigger around Tanner Park, with some blowfish mixed into the catch as well. Blue claw crabs are also putting on some size and providing another good late-summer option. Over by Fire Island Inlet, fluke are being caught from shore on bucktails tipped with Gulp, while cocktail bluefish have been setting up along the back jetty at Demo. Sharks are still being picked from the surf at Gilgo and Cedar, with fresh chunks continuing to be the most productive bait.

Bob Rose at Bob's Bait and Tackle in Amity Harbor reported the fluke action remains rock solid in the bay with all the action an angler could want. If you want a keeper, Bob heard of several real nice fish taken from the FI Reef area. On the docks, snappers, crabs and blowfish are all around. Bluefish action also picked up this week, with a good amount of fish, and fish over 7 pounds.
