Over at Double D Charters in Montauk, Captain Dan reported that a few striped bass are beginning to trickle in. Porgy and sea bass fishing remains strong, while bluefin tuna are still available but becoming more challenging to locate consistently. Offshore mahi action has been excellent.

Over at Double D Charters in Montauk, Captain Dan filled me in and said bluefin fishing remains strong heading into September. Bottom fishing is also shaping up nicely, and with sea bass limits increasing to six fish per person, anglers should have plenty of opportunities to fill the cooler. Captain Dan noted that September traditionally offers some of the best fishing of the year around Montauk, often with lighter crowds than the peak summer months, making now a great time to reserve a date.
