Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em

Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em told us their head boats had flounder and sea bass as did a few charter boats. Private and charter boats worked the Fenwick Shoal area catching Spanish mackerel by trolling Clark or Drone spoons. Bottom fishing may produce triggerfish, flounder or croaker. Offshore, Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em said tilefish seem to be the biggest draw for the boats that run to the canyons.

Kevin Davidson was fishing for dolphin (mahi) along the buoy line from B to the Lightship when he hooked and landed a 4-foot barracuda. This is the first barracuda I have heard of caught in Delaware waters. Spoke to the folks from Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em who said when the head boats could get out to the Old Grounds, they brought back sea bass and flounder. Fenwick Shoal produced Spanish mackerel and small bluefish on trolled Clark or Drone spoons. Offshore, one private boat brought back a 44-pound wahoo. Others had tilefish and tuna.
