Jeff Sullivan in Bristol shore-fished Copicut Reservoir located in Fall River and Dartmouth, Massachusetts. Largemouth bass there are putting on the fall feedbag. Casting a buzzbait early and ½-ounce willow leaf Strike King spinnerbait later, he scored fifteen largemouths, several scaling 3 to 4 pounds.

Jeff Sullivan in Bristol told us that many of the largemouth bass in the ponds he has been fishing are exhibiting early-autumn behavior, and in response he has switched to fall-fishing mode too. Last week he shore-fished Johnsons Pond in Coventry, and rather than focus on shallow cover and structure, he probed drop-offs bordering deep spots. Using a 6-inch nickel flutter spoon, he picked up largies in the 3- and 4-pound range. Bigger bass—5, 6, 7 pounds and heavier—should begin showing in the same places as water continues to cool.

Jeff Sullivan in Bristol returned to Cook Pond in Fall River, Massachusetts, to shore-fish for largemouth bass and chain pickerel. He did nicely with both species: lots of largies including a pair in the 5-pound range and numerous pickerel to 3 pounds. Many of his fish hit topwater offerings including a KVD Toad Buzz, KVD Sexy Frog Hollow Body, River2Sea Bully Wa, and River2Sea Whopper Plopper. A 10-inch Texas-rigged Berkley Power Worm also fooled a bunch.
