Ralph’s Fishing Station

Kathleen from Ralphs Fishing Station in Mt. Sinai knew of good bluefishing at the Middle Grounds and buoy eleven on diamond jigs. Striped bass, sea bass and plenty of porgies are hanging around the Middle Grounds as well with snap jigging bucktails in the rips catching stripers, while worms, clams and squid catch the scup and biscuits. Blackfish season is now open and the shop is all ready to go with gear and bait. The best tog fishing will come from the shallow waters off Cranes Neck and Old Field Point in the 15 to 25-foot depths with jigs and crabs doing the trick.

Kathleen from Ralphs Fishing Station in Mt. Sinai said fishing in the harbor remains good with snappers and gator blues feeding on bunker. Over at the Middle Grounds, Cranes Neck, and Oldfield you can find plenty of scup and sea bass hitting clam baits. Plenty of bluefish are also at the Middle Grounds along with a few stripers if you can get past the blues. Snappers are still in the harbor but are beginning to thin out. Kathleen told me the shop is getting ready for the blackfish assault with jigs, hooks, and green crabs all in stock in time for the opener.
