Smith Point Beach Bait and Tackle

At Smith Point Beach Bait and Tackle, Terrence reported bass has been good this week with live spot producing well. The week was good, with Saturday the only slower day.

In from Richie at Dick's B&T in Mastic Beach we learned that right before the storm, bass action began picking up. As the week progressed this week, with the inlet loaded with large stripers – all over size. Live snappers, bunker, live spot, bucktails and just about anything. Outside the inlet, blues were right outside, with albies and bonito outside a bit farther. SP Minnows and sand eel jigs accounted for real good action on the speedsters. Anglers staying inside the bay produced excellent fluke action, with fish to 5 pounds and still loads of shorts. In the inlet Wednesday and Thursday, Walter Zuk with Tom Furiglio had numerous bass over slot on both days. Snappers are still on the docks, with good action prevailing. Patrick Walsh also got into the mix on bass, with several “good” fish released.
