DEC ANGLER DIARY FOR NEW YORK CITY - The Fisherman

DEC ANGLER DIARY FOR NEW YORK CITY

The Department of Environmental Conservation NYC (Region 2) is starting an Angler Diary Program for 2013. This program will enable DEC to collect information from experienced anglers targeting freshwater fish species to help supplement data from DEC fisheries surveys being performed throughout the five boroughs.

Participants will receive instructions on how to collect information and enter it into a DEC Angler Diary booklet to use for recording fishing activity (e.g. date, time, location, fish length) on each trip. Angler responsibilities will include recording the species, length, location, and some brief information about the fishing trip for each fish caught. At the end of the fishing season, the diaries will be submitted to DEC.

Each participant will receive a report of the diary program results for the season, and the diary will be returned to the angler. The program will kickoff in early spring and run through the end of October. Interested anglers can send their name, address and email address to fwfish2@gw.dec.state.ny.us.
