FISHERMAN MAGAZINE CONTRIBUTOR HONORED

At the recent New England Outdoor Writers Association’s (NEOWA) annual Photo and Writing awards ceremony held on April 13, John D. Silva, frequent contributor to the New England edition of The Fisherman Magazine, was awarded with both 2nd and 3rd place awards in the “Best Humor – Magazine” category. John’s awards were given for “Coveting Thy Neighbor’s Chum Slick” (2nd place) and “A Ban on Bans” (3rd place.)

“Coveting Thy Neighbor’s Chum Slick” was a Tale End column in issue number 41 (October 11) for all three editions of the magazine. In this column, Silva recounts the comedic exchange between two boat captains as they fished the Oak Bluffs Monster Shark Tournament back in the 1990s.

John’s 3rd place award for “A Ban on Bans” appeared in the New England edition issue number 16 (April 19). In this tongue-in-cheek look into the future, Silva outlines the inevitable future extinction of the Great American Sportsman through the Sportsman Prohibition Movement.

As always you can view back issues of the magazine online with your standard paid subscription by visiting the Digital Edition Archive under the “Magazine” header on The Fisherman.com. It may be accessed directly at www.thefisherman.com/index.cfm.
