LEGENDARY FLY STRETCH REOPENS - The Fisherman

LEGENDARY FLY STRETCH REOPENS

YouTube video

In 2008 the legendary Connetquot fish hatchery on Long Island was shut down due to the fish testing positive for IPN (Infectious Pancreatic Necrosis), a disease that has affected many different trout hatcheries throughout The Fisherman’s region. In 2016 the hatchery updated the water supply by using deep well water, and once again this historic location is back to raising trout and generating a few great, early-season fly reports.

Currently, fishing is limited to two sessions, 8 a.m. to noon and noon to 4 p.m. Later this spring, a third session from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. will be in effect. The cost per session is $20 and a New York State Freshwater License is required. Reservations can be made by calling 631-581-1005. Beats are assigned based on your arrival time at the park. Well worth the trip for anglers throughout the tri-state region!
