Hopefully this is the last week that winter-like weather interferes with fishing effort and also those trying to get a head start on getting their boats ready for the season. Chores like bottom painting have been impossible to tackle due to the recent bouts of cold and snow.
Speaking of getting boats ready, the Long Island Boat Show will be berthed at Grumman Studios in Bethpage beginning this Thursday, March 23 through Sunday, March 26th. Many local dealers will be on hand and they are promising some great deals to help get you on the water in 2017. Show hours are noon to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday with lots of free parking. And if you are still looking to add some tackle to your arsenal for the upcoming season, the Lindenhurst Fishing Flea Market takes place this Sunday, March 26th, at the Firemen’s Pavillion, 555 Heiling Blvd @ Hartford Street in Lindenhurst, Long Island, NY 11757.
