As a full-time science teacher, husband, father of two and life-long fisherman, you’d think that Mike Morazzini would have little time to dedicate to some of his other passions, but that is just what he has done with the release of his second full-length album, “Droppin; Lines,” on February 17, 2017. Mike is a self-proclaimed “fishing hip hop artist,” and he has collaborated with the likes of Mike Iaconelli (Ike) to bring his music to the masses.
Following his 2009 release, Angler Talk, he connected with Ike in 2012 for the song, “Going Ike” which was featured on Ike’s web series. Mike writes his clean, pumped up hip/hop music entirely about fishing. Even if it is not your preferred music style, the words are easily relatable and recognizable by fishermen everywhere. His music appeals to all anglers, but the hip/hop-fishing mix is a unique way to get young people and/or "city kids" involved in fishing. These kids are the future of our sport, and any time we can pull them away from the TV, video game systems and other distractions or negative influences in life and instead direct their energy towards the positive aspects of fishing, it is a win-win scenario for everyone!
Mike also runs a high school fishing club, the "Law Anglers" at Jonathan Law High School in Milford, Connecticut, where he teaches science. The club fishes both fresh and saltwater locations in the area. Fellow teacher Matt Roumeles also works with the fishing club and appears on the new album.
New Album Information
Inspired by the loss of a monster thresher shark (a 4-hour battle in which Mike lost off of Montauk in 2011), Droppin’ Lines is his second and latest album dedicated to fishing. The album kicks off with a 5-minute track called "She’s Gone" – a track for any angler who has ever lost a big fish. The album was recorded in Branford, Connecticut at Soundloft Recording Studios and is a clean, professionally produced record from front to back. The album features 13 tracks, and is an absolute dedication to the love of fishing which so many of us are fortunate enough to enjoy.
The album will be featured on an episode of the Going Ike TV and web series, which was filmed in Milford/New Haven, CT with Mike Morazzini and Mike Iaconelli fishing for striped bass and tautog and is set to air on the Pursuit TV network and on the web in March.
