NORTH JERSEY STRIPED BASS HEARING

On September 9, 2014, the Hudson River Fishermen’s Association will host a public hearing on Striped Bass at their general meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to inform, discuss and obtain public comment on Addendum IV to the ASMFC management plan for striped bass. The draft addendum contains new reference points and management options to reduce fishing mortality over the next one to three years for both the recreational and commercial fisheries. A 25% reduction harvest reduction is one of the management options. This is the last in a series of three meetings New Jersey is holding on the addendum

Mr. Russ Allen, Supervising Biologist, NJ Bureau of Marine Fisheries, will provide presentation on the status of Striped Bass and the various management options. This will be followed by a question and answer period and public comment. This is your opportunity to have your voice and concerns heard by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC), the New Jersey Bureau of Marine Fisheries and the New Jersey Marine Fisheries Council.

The meeting meeting takes place on September 9,2014 at the Ridgefield Park Elk’s Lodge #1506, located at Spurce Ave. and Cedar St. in Ridgefield Park, N.J. (Just a few blocks from Rt. 46. The hearing starts promptly at 7:00 pm.
