Anglers wishing to purchase New York State 4 x 4 Off-Road and Sportfishing Access permits can do so through April 30, and again from September 3 through December 31.
The annual fee for the 4 x 4 permit is $65 for NYS residents. This permit allows access to the following state parks: Robert Moses (Democrat Point and Soar Thumb/Cedar Beach,) Gilgo, Napeague, Hither Hills and Montauk Point, among other places (provided, of course, these areas are open to the public following repairs from storm damage, erosion, etc.)
The Night Sport Fishing Access Permit costs $30 and allows parking only for the purpose of fishing at the following locations: Captree (Main Field and Overlook,) Wildwood (Main Field,) Hither Hills (except Friday of Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day,) Jones Beach (fields 6, 10, West End 2, West End Boat Basin, and West End Work Docks Area,) Montauk Point (Lower Parking Lot only,) Robert Moses (Field 2 all dates; Fields 3 and 4 from Sept. 15 – Dec. 31 only,) and Sunken Meadow (Fields 1 and 3.)
