After a restful night on the hook protected by Clarion Island, we made the move back into the deep water tuna grounds.
It took about 30 minutes for the cow tuna to find the boat and Guy Maldari tied into a big one and battled her for well over an hour. Working another trophy fish was Kevin Gillespie who boated his yellowfin not long after Guy’s.
Although the tuna fishing has been red hot, we are back on the move once again. Capt. Justin Fleck believes he can find even bigger fish so we’re off to Hurricane Bank; 1000 miles southwest of San Diego, California and an 18 hour steam from our current position.
For now we’re all taking advantage of the down time and catching up on some well deserved rest.
