9/19 “Adaptive Fishing” Event For Limited Mobility Anglers On LBI

On Saturday, September 19, the Access for Reel-A NJ Nonprofit Corporation, along with Rutgers Center for Disability Sports & Wellness, Department of Kinesiology and Health, and the Alliance Center for Independence, will host the third annual Access for Reel, Fishing Without Barriers in Beach Haven.  This event is an opportunity for people with limited mobility to participate in an adaptive fishing tournament at the Jersey Shore.

The Access for Reel, Fishing Without Barriers event opens with registration and check-in at Queen City Marina at 525 Second Street in Beach Haven at 10 a.m. To register online and RSVP for the event go to accessforreel.com.  The registration fee is $10.

The fishing, food and fun gets underway from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the pier on Dock Road, and is followed by a banquet at Bird and Betty’s located at 529 Dock Road; that’s from 2 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Parking is available at Queen City Marina located at the Second Street Morrison’s Point Pier-Side entrance that is fully accessible. For your convenience, participants can park and register at The Queen City Marina / Pier. Organizers will have volunteers assist with roadway traffic allowing participants to transport without hazard of vehicles. This event is open to any level angler, beginners and experts alike.  The organizers expect to have some gear available, but those with their own rods, reels and tackle are encouraged to bring it along.
