Casco Bay Bluefin Bonanza Youth Day - The Fisherman

Casco Bay Bluefin Bonanza Youth Day

The Casco Bay Bluefin Bonanza annual Youth Day event takes place July 26 at Port Harbor Marine in South, Portland, Maine.

The Casco Bay Bluefin Bonanza will again host their annual Youth Day event July 26 from 10 to 2 at Port Harbor Marine in South, Portland, Maine. Activities kick off with scientists from the University of Maine’s Pelagic Fisheries Lab leading hands-on activities. Kids can learn about and even touch some of the fascinating fish that swim in our waters. They can even help in dissecting and collecting samples from sharks and bluefin tuna and learn how these specimens help researchers. Meanwhile, Nate Garrett of Big Fish Gyotaku will be demonstrating the Japanese art of fish printing and assist kids in making their own fish prints.

Down on the docks, kids can participate in a green crab fishing tournament where prizes will be awarded for the most, the biggest and the most unusual catch. Then, participants can pick their best crab for the crab derby races and more prizes.

This event is free and open to the public. The crew from Cabela’s will be on hand to help with more activities and to serve free lunch for all in attendance. Children must be accompanied by an adult parent or guardian. For more information visit www.bluefinbonanza.org.
