The Nature Conservancy and Stony Brook University contacted us about a research project they will be doing in collaboration with NYS DEC at Atlantic Beach Artificial Reef in 2024. The project is aimed at testing the effectiveness of different scientific methods at quantifying the comparative marine life habitat value of constructed reefs in the open ocean. The research should not impact any fishing activities. With a dozen or so days of field work planned, anglers may see the research team working out there and may come across more tagged fish than usual. The team is still firming up project logistics and would be happy to hear from any anglers that regularly fish that reef.
