The annual Joe Morris Memorial Canal Flounder Tournament presented by Lewes Harbour Marina was held on Friday, June 5. There were 425 anglers participating in this year’s event which raised more than $8,500 for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. That total is expected to grow as money from tee shirt sales and other fundraisers is added up.
In first place in this year’s contest was Price Lindsay with a 5.98-pound flounder he caught on a shiner fished on a Rick’s Rig. Second place went to Matt Mitchel with a 4.07-pounder, and in third it was Jesse Dickinson with his 3.51-pound summer flounder.
Rounding out the top six was Justin Twilley who caught a 3.35-pound flattie on Gulp for fourth, Dennis Weidner and his 3.33-pounder for fifth place, and Colby Steele nabbing sixth with a 3.28-pound fish.
