Long Island Lakes And Rivers Get Stocked - The Fisherman

Long Island Lakes And Rivers Get Stocked

Starting in March and running through the month of May, The New York Department of Environmental Conservation will be stocking over 20 lakes and rivers throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties with over 16,000 combined brown and rainbow trout. The fish will range from yearlings all the way to two-year old brown trout that will really put a bend in a light tackle freshwater spin or fly rod, providing exciting fishing opportunity for all. Be sure to be properly licensed before you try your luck out with the stockies. A smaller, supplemental stocking will take place again during the fall. For all tidal waters, a marine registry will be needed while all lakes and ponds require a freshwater fishing license.
