The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council will meet June 16-18, 2026 at the Sheraton Suites Old Town Alexandria on 801 North Saint Asaph Street in Alexandria, VA.
The Mid-Atlantic Council’s management authority extends from 3 to 200 miles off the coasts of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. Although the Mid-Atlantic Council includes voting members from North Carolina, the South Atlantic Council has primary management authority over federal waters off the coast of North Carolina.
The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council is one of eight regional fishery management councils established to manage fisheries within U.S. federal waters.
The Council system was established by Congress through the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act signed on April 13, 1976. For 50 years, the Councils have played a central role in conserving marine resources while supporting fishing communities and a vibrant U.S. seafood economy.
