NJ Surfcasting Tournament Weekend - The Fisherman

NJ Surfcasting Tournament Weekend

For surfcasters with that competitive spirit, it’s a big weekend at the Jersey Shore with several surf only contests kicking off.

From Point Pleasant to Island Beach, the 3rd annual Barrier Island Beach Brawl will go on Friday and Saturday, October 8 and 9.  Presented by Nick Honachefsky of the Saltwater Underground, this two-day surfcasting contest is based out of Playa Bowls and Crabs Claw Inn in Lavallette and is just $45 to enter.  Go to saltwaterunderground.com for details.

On Saturday, October 9, Brigantine will play host to the 37th Annual Women’s Surf Fishing Club of NJ Tournament.  Sanctioned by the Association of Surf Angling Clubs (ASAC), the contest is open to teams and individuals on the beach at Brigantine.  For entry information contact Reggi Vasta at 215-901-2474 or cozmofaerie@aol.com.

The 67th Annual LBI Surf Fishing Classic will also kick off this Saturday, October 9.  Expanded to nine weeks several years back, the old “Derby” features daily, weekly, segment and grand prize awards for striped bass and bluefish in the surf on LBI and runs through December 12.  Follow along with tournament weigh-ins at LBISFC.com.

And on Sunday, October 10, the American Angler Classic Surf Fishing Tournament will be held in Seaside Park.  An individual (friends and family) tournament that’s open to the public, you can visit AmericanAnglerus.com to download the contest application or call Carl Hartmann at 201-481-4390.
