Mark Kanterman headed up to a Lake Ontario tributary and fly fished for this kype-jawed brown trout. A kype usually develops in the weeks prior to, and during, migration to the spawning grounds.
Instead of submitting this tautog in the Dreamboat Challenge, Tony Vernola decided to release the 15.63-pounder to fight another day while fishing out of the well-known tog grounds near Newport Rhode Island during the month of November.
Lifetime Fisherman Magazine subscriber Lou Parillo hopped aboard the Rosie out of Center Moriches during the summer. While on the trip he hooked and landed a doormat of 10.6 pounds within the bay.
Out of Shinnecock, the Hampton Lady was running wreck fishing trips all fall that targeting cod, scup, pollock and monster sea bass like the one Meghan Pfautz decked during the month of November.
From their last run of the season out of Huntington, Port of Call Charters hit the Sound for a mixed bag of sea bass and blackfish before calling it a season, see you in 2023!
Ron Pliszak from J&J Sports in Patchogue hit the deep water sea bass haunts like he does every December and caught his limit. He mentioned “they were the biggest I caught all year.”


In early December the Captain Dave III ran a series of blackfish trips out of Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn to fish local ocean pieces for a steady pick at the ‘white chins.’
It was jumbo after jumbo sea bass for those who fished on the Super Hawk out of Point Lookout on one of their offshore wreck fishing special trips before the close of the 2022 season.
