Product Spotlight: Fishbites Fight Club 5” Mullet

After handing out Fishbites to subscribers at the winter shows for several years, we hit a rather unique snag at the Saltwater Fishing Expo in March.  On day two of the three-day event, Capt. Scott Jones from Fishbites ran up The Fisherman booth to apologize for completely selling out of Fishbites Fight Club baits; clearly the secret is out!

For back bay fluking I’ve used the Fishbites Fight Club 5-inch Dirty Boxer Curly tail on my bucktail for several seasons, occasionally adding one to my teaser or floating jighead.  When it comes to working the deeper water and sticky stuff with heavier jigs the 6-inch Fishbites Fight Club Grub gets the nod.  Clearly these baits taste great to fluke, and they must smell right to the fish as well.  Best of all they hold up well to smaller critters nibbling away at the tail.

A new secret Fishbites Fight Club lure was just unveiled at the ICAST show, the 5-inch Mullet.  For those on the hunt for a new paddletail this larger profile soft lure was made with big fish in mind.  While I’ve yet to drop one in the water yet since ICAST, the folks from Fishbites (Carr Specialty Baits, Inc.) say the newest lure uses the patented Fishbites Hydrogel technology for improved durability and a higher scent release rate.

“We couldn’t be more excited to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Fishbites at ICAST,” said Fishbites president/CEO Terry Dillinger.  While the Fishbites product line-up continues to evolve – from the original EZ Baits and Bag O’ Worms to the Fight Club Dirty Boxer Curly Tails and 6-inch Grubs – Dillinger said what remains the same after 25 years is the company’s commitment to exceed angler expectations.  “We’ve worked hard to consistently deliver quality products that catch fish,” he said heading into the ICAST show.

Heading out of the ICAST show, I can tell you that I’m looking forward to giving the Fishbites Fight Club 5-inch Mullet a go on a jighead this month for fluke and sea bass in particular.  Look for them at your favorite tackle shop this summer; don’t wait for the winter show season to run out!
