Earlier this year, Minn Kota introduced its 12V Kayak Terrova bow-mounted trolling motor for freshwater use with great success. Since then, saltwater kayak anglers have been eagerly waiting for a corrosion-resistant version—and that wait is finally over. The Riptide Kayak Terrova, officially launched in mid-October, is purpose-built for saltwater kayaks and will soon be turning heads from back-bay creeks to open inlets.
Designed for effortless control, reliable power, and precise positioning, the Riptide Kayak Terrova brings advanced GPS technology and rugged construction to the saltwater scene. Whether sneaking through shallow backwaters or holding steady in strong current, this motor allows anglers to focus on the fishing rather than boat control.
Users can command the motor via the Micro Remote, a connected Humminbird fish finder, or the One-Boat Network App, offering total flexibility. The built-in GPS trolling system includes Spot-Lock, Autopilot, Drift Mode, and Follow Mode, allowing anglers to hold their exact position or track a course hands-free. Seamless integration with Humminbird electronics ensures smooth navigation and system-wide control.
With a 36-inch composite shaft, 12V motor producing 55 pounds of thrust, and a weedless prop, this compact powerhouse is built to handle a wide range of saltwater conditions. Like its larger Riptide siblings, the Kayak Terrova features:
- Advanced GPS Trolling System: Spot-Lock, Autopilot, Drift, and Follow Modes for precision boat control.
- Advanced Corrosion Protection: Grit-blasted, aluminum-coated lower housing to resist rust and oxidation.
- Effortless Stow & Deploy: Smooth manual lever for easy setup.
- Humminbird Integration: Plug-and-play compatibility with select Humminbird units.
Installation should be straightforward for kayaks rated for bow-mounted motors, with many models already featuring universal mounting holes. Minn Kota recommends a deep-cycle marine battery of at least 105 amp hours for optimal performance. A LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) battery is ideal, keeping total kayak weight down while offering longer run times and faster recharging.
With a total weight of 40.5 pounds, the new Riptide Kayak Terrova pairs perfectly with saltwater kayaks in the 12- to 14-foot range, offering premium performance in a compact, corrosion-resistant package.
