RFA Selects New “Interim” Executive Director

The Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) recently announced the appointment of an interim Executive Director, Lorna D. O’Hara, CAE. She will replace Jim Donofrio who recently retired after 25 years of service.

According to the official RFA statement released in early April, O’Hara has more than 20 years of experience in political development and government affairs within various organizations in and around Washington, DC. She currently heads Princeton Association Management Professionals, a division of Princeton Public Affairs Group, a New Jersey lobbying firm that has focused on grasstops and grassroots field campaigns, and political action committee development.

A Certified Association Executive, O’Hara has served in leadership roles at several New Jersey and national associations, as well as serving on The Kennedy Center’s Camelot Circle Board, Project Children’s Stout Hearts, and the Blarney Ball Committee.  Prior to joining the Princeton Public Affairs Group in 2005, O’Hara was employed as the Director of Political Development for The American Council of Engineering Companies.  She was also previously in charge of political outreach for Capital One Financial Corporation, where she developed the Corporations’ Capitol Contact Network and achieved 30 to 40% increases in Political Action Committee totals during each election cycle.

An alumnus of Wittenberg University in Ohio, O’Hara holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies, and later at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing. According to the press release, “Ms. O’Hara enjoys golfing, the shore, boating, and occasionally casting a line. Her favorite fishing spots are Lake George, NY, and Marco Island, FL.”

Founded in 1996, RFA was the first national grassroots political action organization established to represent the rights of recreational fishermen and the recreational fishing industry on marine fisheries issues.  For more information contact Lorna O’Hara at 609-396-8838 or go to joinrfa.org.
