NJ MARINE FISHERIES COUNCILS MEETS NOV. 2

The New Jersey Marine Fisheries Council will meet on Thursday, November 2 in Galloway Township at 4 p.m. where it’s expected that black sea bass will once again take a lead role in public discussion.

JAMES GILMORE TO CHAIR ASMFC

ASMFC Commissioners from Maine to Florida have elected New York DEC’s Marine Resources Director, James Gilmore, to chair the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission.

The New Jersey Fish and Game Council will hold a special public hearing on Tuesday, November 14 at 7 p.m. at Assunpink Conservation Center in Robbinsville, NJ to discuss catch and release regulations for brook trout.

NISSEQUOGUE RIVER PARK IMPROVEMENTS

Improvements include a new building to house DEC’s Division of Marine Resources, and a new marina and boat launch with easy access to the Sound.

NJMFC TO WAIT ON SEA BASS DECISION

At their November 2 meeting the New Jersey Marine Fisheries Council voted to wait until after the December joint meeting of the ASMFC/MAFMC to decide upon whether or not to open the sea bass fishery in February.
