Old Man Winter has gripped New England and it seems as though he has no plans of loosening up. As a result, ice fishermen are getting a head start on the winter season, and it’s paying off. We’ve seen pike, pickerel, bass and many species of trout coming through holes in the ice this week and lots of excitement. But, if open water is your game, the holdover striper action has been holding up well across the region, and these fish are really responding to weather systems, so keep your eye out for snow, rain and wind. Another good move would be to hitch a ride on a party boat and cash in on the awesome bottom fishing taking place south of Block Island, you just might land your PB sea bass!
