As the temperatures drop, the holdover striper action is heating up! We’ve seen some really nice fish coming from various holdover striper hotspots this week with the Housatonic leading the way. Connecticut officials released some big lakers and some beautiful Seeforellen brown trout into a few select lakes around the state, adding to the stocked opportunities there. We’re also seeing a surge in Atlantic mackerel catches in the Canal and throughout much of Rhode Island. Finesse fishers are doing well with largemouth bass all over southern New England and it’s been a big week for big pickerel, too. Party boats leaving Point Judith have been doing very well with sea bass and tog, with some ling in the mix to spice the catch.
