Another Round of Giant Trout Stocked in Connecticut!
We lost a lot of ice this week, which rendered many freshwater lakes and ponds off-limits to any kind of fishing. Head north or west and there’s still safe ice, get anywhere near the coast and skim ice becomes the biggest problem. Still, the hardcore guys are getting out and finding some fish. Prespawn white perch action is heating up. The smallmouth bass bite is picking up on the Cape. Holdover stripers have been a little more receptive to angling this week as well, thanks to rain and runoff. On top of all that, trout stocking has continued across Connecticut and Rhode Island with plenty of large fish released to spice your winter angling opportunities. It may be February, but there are still plenty of fish to catch, you just have to get out there and make it happen!
