Stable weather can be a bad thing for winter fishing and, over the last 7 days, we’ve finally seen some real changes. A warmup, followed by a winter storm kicked the fishing into overdrive this week as hardwater anglers iced some 20-pound class pike, largemouth fishers crushed them on the Cape and trout fishing lit up in Rhode Island. A cold snap has settled in since the storm, reigniting hopes for an ice fishing curtain call across southern New England. And if you cross enough fingers and toes, it just might happen.
