A few bumps above freezing have done nothing to melt the enthusiasm of local ice fishermen. Safe ice remains on most lakes and ponds away from the coastline. Jiggers continue to pull a mix of panfish, trout and bass while those watching tip-ups have logged some impressive bass, pickerel and pike. Connecticut stocked several bodies of water this week with trout, including Seeforellen browns, and the payoff has already begun.
