Ice fishing is trending! And it seems that everyone is excited about getting on the ice; here a young Massachusetts angler named Delaney displays a beautiful largemouth bass taken earlier this month. This week, however, ice anglers need to choose their spots carefully, as coastal ponds are no longer safe and many interior lakes have sketchy edges. The further north and west you go – generally speaking – the better your chances. It’s been another good week for largemouth bass and the pike bite seems to be firing up now, as well. Open water options are relegated to tidal estuaries where holdover stripers may be hanging and the rivers, where trout action has remained strong.
