Ice Fishing Fever Sweeps Across New England!
An extreme cold snap sent sheets of ice crackling across nearly every body of fresh water in New England last week, which quickly firmed up enough for ice fishing. We heard reports from every New England state, telling of trout, pike, pickerel, panfish and some impressive largemouth bass as well. For those who aren’t into drilling holes in the ice, open water fishing was still taking place in the Housatonic River for striped bass and there were some trout coming from streams and rivers as well. It looks like we’re going to lose this ice pretty quickly, but it was fun while it lasted!
