The weather rollercoaster just won’t quit as we ride out of an arctic cold snap and into a warm stretch that feels more like early April. Safe ice is a thing of the past for anyone fishing south of, at least, Portland Maine, but as you approach Cape Cod and the coastal ponds of southern New England the water is free of skim ice and fishing well. Bass and trout fishermen are reporting good catches from the Cape to western Connecticut. We also saw an increase in broodstock salmon catches from the Naugatuck this week. Holdover striper action continues to produce good results in the Housy as well. It looks like this January warmup might stick around a while, make the most of it!
