A wave of 36- to 50-inch bluefin have moved onto the ‘midshore grounds’ south of Block Island and, word on the street is that the topwater action has been red hot. Canyon runs continue to produce an array of species; yellowfin, bluefin, bigeye, albacore, white marlin and mahi are all in play. Striper action has been best in eastern Long Island Sound and along the shorelines north of Cape Cod, basically from the Canal north to Cape Ann. The word being used to describe the action for most bottom species is ‘decent’, but one outlier continues to draw rave reviews: scup are biting ferociously across most of southern New England
