For many, Memorial Day Weekend marks the official start of the fishing season and the unofficial beginning of summer. Fishing is exploding right now throughout our region, but striper fishing is leading the charge. Big bass are piling into three key areas: eastern Buzzards Bay, upper Narragansett Bay and western Long Island Sound, with fish from 20 to 50 pounds being reported. We’re seeing another weakfish boom in Rhody and Connecticut. And don’t forget, spring blackfish season closes on Tuesday in Rhody while the bag limit is reduced to 1 fish in Massachusetts on the same day.
