The “Wind Gods” graced us with a few short windows this week and those that took advantage were rewarded. The main target has been blackfish, and the results, from Buzzards Bay to the New York border, were solid. There has also been a bit of a resurgence of nice-sized sea bass on the inshore ledges of Rhode Island, with some really nice fish into the low 20-inch class mixed in. Stripers have been tougher to find than what we typically see at this time of year, probably a side effect of the relentless windy weather, but the river mouths in Connecticut, and the South County Beaches in Rhody present your best chances for landing a linesider. On those prohibitively windy days, the largemouth bass action has been strong and stocked trout seem to be biting all the time.
