It’s the biggest fall holiday on the New England fishing calendar, the opening day of blackfish season in Connecticut. The next week of togging in Connecticut often marks some of the best fishing we’ll see in Long Island Sound all year long. There were also good catches of rec-sized tuna reported from Stellwagen and south of Block. The Fall striper migration is in full swing with good reports coming in from Maine’s Saco River to the Connecticut River and beyond.
