There are many signs that we’re progressing into the second phase of fall fishing and the most obvious is that the blackfishing has started fired up the afterburners. We’ve seen some really nice fish landed across the region, especially in Rhode Island and Connecticut. Striper fishing is evolving as well, with isolated pockets of great fishing (Canal, Aquidneck Island, Connecticut River) broken up with areas of slower action; the storm currently churning offshore should get some of these fish moving. The wind and waves have already lowered the water temps in Rhode Island from 61 degrees on Tuesday to 58 on Thursday, and that’s what it takes to see that migration urgency intensify. There are many other great opportunities to bend the rod as well; big bluefish in Nantucket Sound, excellent fall trout fishing all over the place… the only missing ingredient is your decision to get out there, we’re going to help with that!
