Long Island, Metro Video Fishing Forecast June 4, 2026

Youtube video

Striped bass remain the headline story across Long Island this week, with quality fish reported from the East End bays to the South Shore surf and North Shore harbors. Cooling water temperatures following recent winds have brought another wave of sea lice-covered bass into local waters, while surfcasters continue to score on plugs, bucktails and soft plastics after dark. Fluke action is steadily improving as well, with several pool-winning fish and quality catches coming from the Peconics, Freeport, Moriches Bay and local party boats. Weakfish remain a pleasant surprise in several areas, including Moriches Bay, Huntington and the North Shore surf, while cocktail bluefish are beginning to show in greater numbers. This week's forecast also includes insights from legendary angler Mark Sedotti, a Canyon Runner update, correspondence from around the Island, a preview of the upcoming magazine issue and a rundown of June fishing events, tournaments and clinics happening throughout the region.
