The 2025 surf tournament season is underway again at the Jersey Shore, with two Association of Surf Angling Clubs (ASAC) events – one in Ocean City on September 20th and the other in North Wildwood on September 27th – already wrapping up in September.
There are two more ASAC sanctioned events coming up in October, each open to both teams and individuals. On Saturday, October 4, the 77th Annual Long Beach Island Fishing Club Tournament will be run in Harvey Cedars. Registration will take place early Saturday morning at the LBI Fishing Club headquarters at 6 E. Cape May Avenue in Harvey Cedars. For details contact Barry Forgeng at 215-990-7660 or BForg001@gmail.com.
The following Saturday, October 11, the Merchantville Fishing Club will host their 8th Annual Jeff Bajek Memorial Surf Tournament also along the beaches of Long Beach Island. Morning of registration at the Surf City firehouse may be limited, so be sure to contact Gene Aikens at 609-440-6994 or fishnut1965@yahoo.com.
In addition to tournaments, conservation, and youth education, ASAC takes an active role in beach access for all, up and down the East Coast, and is an active member of the United Mobile Access Preservation Association, with many of the clubs individual members belonging to access groups such as New Jersey Beach Buggy Association, North Carolina Beach Buggy Association, Outer Banks Preservation Association and others.
